The 11 Best Looker Studio Alternatives in 2026
Looker Studio, now renamed Data Studio, is free and good at charts. Eleven alternatives compared on the parts it leaves to you: preparing the data, blending more than five sources, and keeping reports current.
· 12 min read
The short answer
The best Looker Studio alternative depends on what you are missing. Agencies reporting on ads for many clients are best served by a marketing reporting tool such as AgencyAnalytics (from $20 per client a month) or DashThis. Teams that need real data preparation before the chart should look at Mammoth, Power BI or Tableau, which can clean, join and reshape data rather than only blend it. Teams that want a free, self-hosted option should look at Metabase. Looker Studio itself is now called Data Studio.

Looker Studio is free, quick to start and connects to every Google product you already use. People look for an alternative when they hit the parts it leaves to them: data that needs cleaning before it can be charted, more than five sources in one view, marketing connectors that turn out to be paid, and reports that are only as fresh as Google's refresh schedule. The eleven tools below each answer some of that, in different ways and at very different prices.
Every price and feature on this page was read from the vendor's own pricing page and documentation on 23 October 2026. Links are in the References at the end.
Looker Studio is now called Data Studio
Google renamed Looker Studio to Data Studio on 16 April 2026, and its paid edition is now Data Studio Pro. The product is the same, and most people still search for the old name, so this page uses both. Our Looker Studio pricing guide covers what the free and Pro editions cost.

Where Looker Studio stops
Looker Studio is a reporting layer. What it does well is connecting to Google sources and drawing charts on them, and that is free. Four things push people elsewhere:
-
Preparation. Google describes shaping data in Looker Studio as calculated fields, parameters and changing field types, plus blends. There is no step-by-step pipeline for cleaning, reshaping or deduplicating data before it is charted. That work happens in a spreadsheet or another tool first.
-
Blending. A blend combines up to five data sources, and join conditions are equality only. Rows without a unique key are collapsed while the blend is built.
-
Connectors. Google builds connectors for its own products and a handful of others. For sources such as Facebook Ads, Bing or Salesforce you use partner connectors built by third parties, and some of those are paid.
-
Freshness. Google Ads, Campaign Manager 360, Search Console and YouTube Analytics data refreshes every 12 hours, and Google's documentation says that rate can't be changed. Extracts are capped at 100 MB and 750,000 rows.
How we compared these. We read each vendor's pricing page and documentation on 23 October 2026, and quote prices only where the vendor publishes them. We did not run the eleven side by side on one dataset, so nothing here is a verdict on chart quality or speed. The numbers are not scores: the list is grouped by the kind of tool, and Mammoth Analytics, our product, sits first as the publisher.

Best for preparing messy data before the dashboard
1. Mammoth
Mammoth pros:
- Cleans, joins and reshapes data in steps anyone can read, and re-runs them on new data
- 100+ tested connectors, plus anything with a REST API
- Viewers are free on every plan
- A board can read several tables, one per page, and any number on it opens the rows behind it
Mammoth cons:
- Not a marketing-agency reporting suite with a per-client portal; check the connector list for each ad platform you use
- Scheduled refresh starts on Starter (weekly) and runs every 3 hours on Pro; Free refreshes by hand
- Joining two tables happens in the pipeline, not by blending on the chart
Mammoth Analytics is our product, so weigh this entry accordingly.
Mammoth answers the gap Looker Studio leaves before the chart. You bring data in from files, databases, apps and warehouses, then prepare it in a pipeline: describe the change in plain words or pick a step from a menu, and each step is recorded so the same cleaning runs again when new data lands. The dashboard is published from that pipeline, so the numbers on it update when the source does.
Dashboards are built from a prompt or by hand. If the chart library doesn't have the chart you want, you can describe one, and every number on it still comes from your data. Readers can click any number to see the rows behind it and drill down through the data. Dashboards share by public link, password or sign-in, and can be embedded in a client portal.
| Plan | Per month, billed annually | Billed monthly | Builders |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | 1 builder |
| Starter | $39/month | $49/month | 2 builders |
| Team | $149/month | $189/month | 5 builders |
| Pro | $499/month | $629/month | 15 builders |
| Enterprise | From $5,000/month | Annual only | Unlimited |
Viewers are free and unlimited on every plan, because only builders count. Storage is a separate axis: every paid plan includes 10 GB, and more costs the same on any plan (+$100/month for 50 GB, +$300/month for 250 GB, +$800/month for 1 TB, billed annually). Free holds 1 GB. Every account starts with 14 days of Pro, no credit card.
Mammoth pricing: Free plan available. Paid plans start at $39/month a month billed annually. Viewers are free on every plan.
Clean the data once, and every dashboard on it stays current. Viewers are free on every plan.
Best Looker Studio alternatives for BI teams
2. Power BI
Power BI pros:
- Power Query does real preparation: remove and split columns, replace values, merge and append queries
- Free Desktop app for building reports
- Part of many Microsoft 365 setups already
Power BI cons:
- Sharing reports needs a paid licence
- The full model, with Fabric capacity and Premium, takes time to learn
Power BI is Microsoft's BI suite: a desktop app for building reports and a cloud service for sharing them. Its strength over Looker Studio is Power Query, which shapes and combines data in auditable steps before it is modelled. The trade-off is that sharing needs a paid plan for each person who publishes and, below a large Fabric capacity, for each person who views.
Power BI pricing: Desktop and a free account cost nothing. Pro is $14 per user a month and Premium Per User $24, billed yearly.
3. Tableau
Tableau pros:
- Best-in-class visual exploration and chart control
- Tableau Prep Builder, a dedicated preparation tool, comes with every Creator licence
Tableau cons:
- Annual contracts only, and every deployment needs at least one Creator
- High cost per person once viewers are added
Tableau is the analyst's choice for open-ended visual exploration. It is a large step up in power and in price from Looker Studio, and it suits teams with analysts whose job is to explore data.
Tableau pricing: Creator is $75 per user a month on the Standard edition, billed annually. Viewer licences cost extra per person.
4. Metabase
Metabase pros:
- Free to self-host with unlimited users
- A SQL editor and a click-based query builder
Metabase cons:
- Connects to databases and warehouses, plus CSV uploads and Google Sheets, but has no native Google Ads or Analytics connectors
- Marketing data has to land in a database first
Metabase is open-source BI for teams that already have a database or warehouse. For a Looker Studio user whose data lives in Google's marketing products, that means a pipeline into a warehouse before Metabase can see it.
Metabase pricing: Open source is free. Starter is $100 a month plus $6 per user, with the first five users included. Pro is $575 a month plus $12 per user.
5. Zoho Analytics
Zoho Analytics pros:
- A permanent free plan
- Many connectors, and a close fit with other Zoho apps
- Zoho DataPrep built in on the higher tiers
Zoho Analytics cons:
- Plans are capped on rows and users
- Data preparation is listed only on Premium and Enterprise
Zoho Analytics is self-service BI aimed at small and mid-sized businesses. It is the closest in spirit to Looker Studio among the BI tools: low cost, broad connectors, and a free plan.
Zoho Analytics pricing: Free for 2 users and 10,000 rows. Zoho's FAQ puts paid plans from $24 a month billed annually, for 2 users and 0.5 million rows.
Best Looker Studio alternatives for agencies
6. AgencyAnalytics
AgencyAnalytics pros:
- Unlimited data sources, dashboards and staff seats
- A client portal and 85+ marketing integrations
AgencyAnalytics cons:
- The bill grows with every client
- No data blending or transformation listed on the pricing page
AgencyAnalytics is built for marketing agencies reporting to many small clients. It replaces Looker Studio's client reports with a portal per client and marketing connectors that are included rather than bought separately.
AgencyAnalytics pricing: Core is $20 per client a month, billed annually, with a 14-day trial. Larger plans are quoted.
7. DashThis
DashThis pros:
- Transparent pricing by number of dashboards
- Blends data across integrations, with calculated widgets
DashThis cons:
- Low caps on dashboards and sources on the entry plan
DashThis automates marketing dashboards for small agencies and marketers who want simple client reports without building them.
DashThis pricing: Individual is $44 a month paid yearly ($54 monthly) for 3 dashboards and 15 sources, with a 14-day trial.
8. Whatagraph
Whatagraph pros:
- Transformations, blends, currency conversion and its own storage, included
Whatagraph cons:
- Two plans, both sold through a demo, and no trial mentioned on the pricing page
Whatagraph is a marketing reporting platform that has moved upmarket, toward agencies with high reporting volume.
Whatagraph pricing: Max is from €999 a month, billed annually. Prime is quoted.
Best Looker Studio alternatives for KPI dashboards
9. Databox
Databox pros:
- A free plan and no per-seat pricing
- Datasets for cleaning, merging, filtering and standardising data inside Databox
Databox cons:
- The number of data sources is rationed by plan
Databox tracks KPIs across tools for small and mid-sized teams, with an AI analyst for questions about the numbers.
Databox pricing: Free plan available. Analyst is $71 a month, billed annually, with a 14-day trial.
10. Geckoboard
Geckoboard pros:
- Unlimited viewers and data sources
- Quick to set up dashboards for a wall screen
Geckoboard cons:
- Two dashboards and one editor at entry level
- No free plan, and no data preparation beyond a few HubSpot and Zendesk properties
Geckoboard makes live KPI dashboards for operations, sales and support teams that want numbers on a TV.
Geckoboard pricing: Essentials from $79 a month billed annually, with a 14-day trial.
11. Klipfolio
Klipfolio pros:
- Data modelling and joins from the entry plan
- Unlimited users and 130+ integrations
Klipfolio cons:
- Refresh speed depends on the plan
- Two products, Klips and PowerMetrics, priced separately
Klipfolio offers Klips for custom dashboards and PowerMetrics for metric-centred analytics, both aimed at smaller businesses.
Klipfolio pricing: Klips Base is $120 a month billed annually ($140 monthly), with a 14-day trial. PowerMetrics starts at $24 a month billed annually.
How to choose a Looker Studio alternative
Start with the reason you are leaving.
- The data needs work before it can be charted. Choose a tool with a real preparation layer: Mammoth, Power BI (Power Query), Tableau (Prep), or Zoho Analytics on its top tiers. Blending is not the same as preparation.
- You report on ads for many clients. A marketing reporting tool (AgencyAnalytics, DashThis, Whatagraph) includes the marketing connectors and a client portal.
- You need more than five sources in one view. Check how each tool combines data: by blending on the chart, by joins in a model, or in a pipeline before the dashboard.
- You want it free. Looker Studio itself, Metabase's open-source edition, and the free plans of Mammoth, Zoho Analytics and Databox all cost nothing to start.
- You need numbers fresher than every 12 hours. Check each tool's refresh schedule on the plan you would buy.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Looker Studio being discontinued?
No. Google renamed it Data Studio in April 2026. The product continues, it is still free, and the paid edition is now Data Studio Pro.
What is the best free alternative to Looker Studio?
Metabase's open-source edition is free with unlimited users if you can host it and your data is in a database. Mammoth, Zoho Analytics and Databox each have a free plan. Which suits you depends on whether you need data preparation, marketing connectors, or KPI tracking.
Which Looker Studio alternative is best for agencies?
For marketing reporting to many clients, AgencyAnalytics, DashThis and Whatagraph are built for it. If the client data needs cleaning or joining first, a tool with a preparation layer such as Mammoth fits better.
Can I blend more than five sources in Looker Studio?
No. A Looker Studio blend combines up to five data sources. Tools with a preparation step or a data model can combine more before the chart.
Does Looker Studio clean data?
Only lightly. You can add calculated fields and parameters, change field types and blend sources, but there is no pipeline for cleaning, reshaping or deduplicating data before it is charted.
