What is embedded analytics?

Embedded analytics puts live charts and dashboards inside an application, portal or website that people already use, so they read the numbers where they work instead of opening a separate reporting tool. In Mammoth, you build a dashboard once and embed it in your own page, with each client or customer seeing only the data meant for them.

How it works

How to embed a dashboard in three steps

  1. Step 1

    Build the dashboard

    Connect your data in Mammoth and build the dashboard your clients will see, once, for all of them.

  2. Step 2

    Choose how it embeds

    A public link or an embed key needs no developer. Per-client data uses a token your app signs for each viewer. Then list the sites allowed to show it.

  3. Step 3

    Paste it into your page

    Copy the snippet into your portal, website or app. The dashboard sizes itself and refreshes with your data.

<!-- the dashboard's frame, sized to fit -->
<div id="report"></div>
<script src="…/embed-assets/sdk.v1.js"></script>
<script>
  const embed = MammothEmbed.create({
    container: document.getElementById("report"),
    url: EMBED_URL, // copied from the dashboard
    token: () => fetch("/api/embed-token").then((r) => r.text()),
  });
  embed.setFilter({ region: ["North"] });
</script>
The token line is for signed embeds only. A public link or an embed key is a single iframe.

Client-facing dashboards

One dashboard for every client, each seeing their own

A client portal's job is putting each client's numbers in front of that client and nobody else, without building a dashboard per account.

Per-client rows

Each client sees their rows and nothing else

Row-level security is a rule that shows each viewer only the rows for their client. Turn it on for your client or account column once; your portal tells Mammoth which client is signed in, and Mammoth filters the data before anything is drawn. If it leaves the client out, the viewer sees nothing.

  • One dashboard for every client, not one per account
  • Your app stays the login; Mammoth never asks for one
  • Works with the login your portal already has

Fits your page

Looks like part of your product

An embedded dashboard takes the theme and accent colour you set, and you choose what shows. A small script sizes the frame, and your page can change the filters as people move around your app.

  • Light, dark, or follow the viewer's setting
  • Hide the title, KPI strip, filters or page tabs
  • Embed one chart on its own
  • Set filters from your page so the dashboard follows your app

You decide where it can appear

A dashboard can be framed anywhere until you list the sites allowed, and after that nothing else can show it. The embed settings record which sites have loaded it, so you can see when a client's page goes live.

  • Allow up to 20 sites, with a wildcard for subdomains
  • See which sites have loaded each dashboard
  • Rotate a key without breaking pages already live
  • Sessions expire on a timer you set, from one minute to an hour

Embedded analytics pricing

No capacity to rent, no viewer licences

Embedded BI is usually priced by the server it runs on or by the person looking at it. Mammoth prices by the people who build.

Who it is for

Built for sharing dashboards, not for building charts in code

Mammoth embeds dashboards made in Mammoth. If your engineers want a component library to compose charts inside your application's code, a developer toolkit is the better fit.

  • Agencies and consultancies reporting to every client from one dashboard
  • Companies sharing with customers, partners, franchisees or suppliers, each seeing their own
  • Products that need a reporting tab without hiring a reporting team to build one
  • Teams tired of monthly PDFs sent one client at a time

Numbers you can put in front of a client

Your data goes through saved cleaning steps and checks before it reaches the dashboard, and the same steps run again every time it refreshes.

Embedded analytics questions

What is embedded analytics?
Embedded analytics puts live charts and dashboards inside an application, portal or website people already use, instead of sending them to a separate reporting tool. In Mammoth, you build the dashboard once and frame it in your own page.
Do my clients need a Mammoth account?
No. A public link or an embed key needs no login at all. With a signed token, your own application decides who the viewer is and Mammoth trusts the token your server signed, so your clients only ever sign in to your product.
Can each client see only their own data?
Yes, on Pro, with row-level security. You choose the column that identifies a client, such as client or account, and your server puts that client's value in the token. A token without a value gets no rows at all, never every row.
Which plans include embedding?
Every plan, including Free, in all three modes. Showing each client only their own data is a Mammoth Pro plan feature. Viewers are not counted or charged on any plan, so a portal used by a thousand people costs the same as one used by ten.
How much does embedded analytics cost?
With Mammoth, embedding is included in the plan and viewers are free. Paid plans start at $39/month billed annually, and showing each client only their own data needs the Mammoth Pro plan at $499/month. Capacity-based tools work differently: Power BI Embedded's smallest node is $735.91 a month if it runs all the time, plus a Power BI Pro licence for each publisher.
Does Mammoth's branding appear on an embedded dashboard?
On Free and Starter, an embedded dashboard carries a small “Built with Mammoth” footer. From Team upward it does not, and the dashboard takes the theme and accent colour you set, so it reads as part of your page.
Do I need a developer to embed a dashboard?
Not for a public link or an embed key: you paste one line into your page, the same way you would embed a video. Showing each client only their own data needs a signed token, which means your developer adds one small endpoint to your app that signs a token for the person signed in.
Can I embed a single chart instead of the whole dashboard?
Yes. Any chart on a published dashboard can be embedded on its own, and you can hide the title, the KPI strip or the filters, set light or dark, and choose an accent colour from the page that frames it.
Can I stop other sites from showing my dashboard?
Yes. A dashboard can be framed by any site until you list the ones allowed, up to 20, with a wildcard for subdomains. The embed settings also show which sites have loaded it, so you can see a client's page go live.
Does an embedded dashboard stay current?
It shows the published dashboard, so there is no separate copy to keep in step. Connected data refreshes weekly on Starter, daily on Team and every 3 hours on Pro; on Free you refresh by hand.
