Looker Pricing 2026: What Google's Own Price List Says
Looker's pricing page says call sales, but Google's own price list doesn't. The Standard edition is $5,000 a month, and licences run $30 to $125.
Looker's pricing page says "call sales" against every edition, but Google's own price list doesn't hide the numbers. It lists the Looker Standard edition at $5,000, and Google bills that edition monthly, so the entry price is $5,000 a month, or $60,000 a year. That includes 10 Standard users and 2 Developer users. Extra user licences are listed at $30 for a Viewer, $60 for a Standard user and $125 for a Developer. The Enterprise and Embed editions have no listed price.
Below I go through what each edition and licence includes, what sits outside the price list, and what to ask for so a Looker quote can be compared with anything else.
Checked on 12 October 2026 against Looker's pricing page, Google Cloud's price list filtered to Looker, and Google's Standard edition quickstart, which says the edition "is billed monthly while the instance is active".
The short answer
Looker's pricing page quotes every edition through sales, but Google's price list puts the Standard edition at $5,000 a month ($60K a year), with 10 Standard users and 2 Developer users included. Extra licences are listed at $30 (Viewer), $60 (Standard) and $125 (Developer). Enterprise and Embed are quote-only, and the database Looker queries is billed separately. Mammoth publishes every plan: free to start, paid from $39/month billed annually.
What Looker Costs
These are Google's list prices for Looker (Google Cloud core), the version of Looker sold through Google Cloud today:
| Item | Google's list price | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| Standard edition | $5,000 a month | The platform, for teams under 50 users, with 10 Standard and 2 Developer users included |
| Enterprise edition | Quote | The platform with stronger security and higher API limits |
| Embed edition | Quote | The platform for putting Looker dashboards inside your own product |
| Developer user | $125 | Builds the data model in LookML and administers the instance |
| Standard user | $60 | Builds dashboards and explores data |
| Viewer user | $30 | Views and filters dashboards |
Google sells all three editions on one, two or three-year terms. Its price list doesn't say whether the extra licences are monthly or annual, so ask for that in writing before you multiply anything out.
The Three Editions
Each edition is one production instance with 10 Standard users and 2 Developer users included. What changes is security, API capacity and embedding. The API limits below are from Looker's pricing page.
| Edition | Built for | Query API calls a month | Admin API calls a month |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | Teams under 50 users | 1,000 | 1,000 |
| Enterprise | Internal BI with stronger security | 100,000 | 10,000 |
| Embed | Analytics inside your own product | 500,000 | 100,000 |
The API limits only count calls from other systems, not people clicking around in Looker. If another tool needs to pull numbers out of Looker on a schedule, check those limits before you settle on Standard.
The Three User Licences
Google defines three kinds of user, and the split decides most of the bill once you go past the included seats:
- Developer ($125): everything, including LookML development mode, administration, the API and support
- Standard ($60): builds dashboards and reports, explores data, runs SQL and schedules deliveries, but can't change the data model
- Viewer ($30): opens dashboards, filters them, drills into rows and downloads data, but can't build anything
Most teams have a few Developers, a group of Standard users and a long tail of Viewers. Count each group before you ask for a quote.
AI Questions Have Their Own Allowance
Looker's Conversational Analytics, where people ask questions in plain English, is measured in data tokens. Each edition comes with a monthly allowance shared across the instance:
| Edition | Input tokens a month | Output tokens a month |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | 60 million | 1.2 million |
| Enterprise | 300 million | 6 million |
| Embed | 1.2 billion | 24 million |
Above the allowance, Google charges $3.00 per million input tokens and $20.00 per million output tokens. For now Google has extended a launch promotion with no quota limits or overage fees, within fair use. Check the current terms on the pricing page before you budget for it.
What's Not on the Price List
The database. Looker doesn't store data. It sends queries to the database your data lives in, and that database bills you separately. On Google Cloud that's usually BigQuery, which charges by data scanned or by reserved capacity.
The data model. Before anyone sees a dashboard, a developer has to describe your data in LookML, Looker's modelling language. That's the work the Developer licence pays for, and it needs someone who knows SQL.
Getting data ready. Looker shows data that's already clean and in one place. Pulling it out of your other systems and cleaning it is a separate job and a separate tool, such as an ETL tool or a data preparation tool.
Looker vs Looker Studio
They're different products with similar names. Looker Studio, which Google has renamed back to Data Studio, is free for dashboards, with a paid Pro tier for teams. Looker is the enterprise platform with a data model, priced above. I cover the free one in Looker Studio pricing.
Holding a Looker quote? Mammoth's prices are published, so you can compare them today, and you can try it on your own data first.
How to Get a Quote You Can Compare
- Count your users by type: Developers, Standard users and Viewers.
- Decide the edition. If no other system needs to pull data out of Looker, Standard may be enough.
- Request the quote through Google Cloud's Looker page, and ask these in writing:
- Are extra licences billed monthly or annually, and at the list prices above?
- Which term are we quoting, one, two or three years, and what discount comes with the longer ones?
- What happens to the price at renewal?
- Which database costs will we carry, and roughly how much?
When Looker Makes Sense
Your data is already in BigQuery. Looker is built for Google Cloud, and the connection is native.
You need one definition of every metric. LookML lets a small team of developers define revenue, churn and the rest once, for hundreds of people to use.
You're building analytics into a product. The Embed edition exists for customer-facing dashboards.
When to Look Elsewhere
If you're a small team, $60,000 a year before any database cost is a lot to pay for dashboards. For comparison, Power BI Pro is $14 a user a month and a Tableau Creator is $75 a user a month, both billed annually.
If the slow part is getting the data ready rather than showing it, Mammoth prepares and combines data without code and publishes dashboards with unlimited free viewers, from a free plan to $39/month on Starter, billed annually. I compare more options in Looker alternatives.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does Looker cost?
Google's price list puts the Looker Standard edition at $5,000 a month, which is $60,000 a year, with 10 Standard users and 2 Developer users included. Extra licences are listed at $30 for a Viewer, $60 for a Standard user and $125 for a Developer. The Enterprise and Embed editions are quote-only.
Is there a free trial?
Google's price list includes a Looker (Google Cloud core) trial at $0. Ask Google Cloud sales for access, because the trial isn't self-service from the pricing page.
Does Looker need BigQuery?
No. Looker queries the database where your data already lives, and BigQuery is the usual choice on Google Cloud. Whichever database you use bills you separately from Looker.
Is Looker the same as Looker Studio?
No. Looker Studio, now called Data Studio again, is Google's free dashboard tool. Looker is the paid enterprise platform with a data model. See Looker Studio pricing for its Pro tier.
What is the difference between a Standard user and a Viewer?
A Standard user can build dashboards, explore data and run SQL. A Viewer can open, filter and download from dashboards but can't build anything. Google lists them at $60 and $30.
