Dropbox connector

The Dropbox connector imports files stored in your Dropbox account into Mammoth as a dataset. Authenticate with your Dropbox account using OAuth—no API keys or credentials to manage. Supported file types: .txt, .csv, .tsv, .psv, .xls, .xlsx, .xml, .zip, .bz2, .gz, .tar, .7z.

Before you start

You need:

  • A Dropbox account with the files or folders you want to import

Step 1: Select the Dropbox connector

  1. In Mammoth, go to Data Library and click + New Dataset
  2. Select Connectors
  3. Search for Dropbox
  4. Click the Dropbox tile

Step 2: Authenticate with Dropbox

With no saved connection, the Dropbox dialog shows No connections and a New Connection button. Click New Connection to start the OAuth flow.

Mammoth sends you to Dropbox's authorization page in the same browser tab. Sign in and click Allow to grant Mammoth access to your files. You're redirected back to Mammoth automatically.

Step 3: Select files and folders from Dropbox

After you authorize Mammoth, the Connect Dropbox dialog opens.

  1. Click Select Dropbox Files & Folders. Dropbox's file chooser opens.
  2. Browse your Dropbox and select the files and/or folders you want to connect.
  3. The dialog lists everything you selected. Click + Add more to include additional files or folders—a folder you select includes everything inside it.
  4. Click Connect.

Step 4: Create the Dropbox dataset

The Dropbox - New Dataset dialog opens next. It lists the files you connected and shows "Supported file types" for this connector.

  1. Select the file you want to import (use the search box to filter if you connected several items)
  2. If the file is an Excel workbook (.xls/.xlsx), enter the Exact Sheet name to import
  3. Click Create new dataset

Keep Dropbox data up to date

Set up a Dataset Refresh automation. When it runs, Mammoth re-reads the file from Dropbox, picking up any changes you've made to the file.

Troubleshoot Dropbox connections

Authorization does not complete

  • Mammoth sends you to Dropbox in the same browser tab and returns you to the Data Library afterwards. If you deny access or close the tab, start the connection again
  • If Mammoth shows "Session expired. Please reconnect Dropbox.", start a new connection

No files found

  • Mammoth shows "No files found." when the selected items contain no supported file types. Select a different file or folder, and check that your files use one of the supported types listed at the top of this page
