Dashboard audience and engagement
Once a dashboard is published, Mammoth counts who opens it, what they read, when they read it and what they ask. You see this in Audience, in the full engagement report, and as an overlay on the editor canvas. Editors of the dashboard can see it. Editors' own visits are never counted ("Editors of the board aren't counted.").
Open Audience
Audience is a short summary of how a published dashboard is used. Open it from any of these:
- The Audience tab, the first tab of a dashboard's details panel in the library
- The Audience row in the Share panel, which shows the views and people in the last 7 days
- The audience chip in the editor header, for example "12 views · 7d"
For a draft, Audience reads Publish to start counting: "Once this is live you'll see who it's shared with, who opened it, what they read and when. Your own visits never count."
What Audience shows
Pick a date range at the top ("Last 30 days", for example). The numbers compare against the previous period of the same length.
- Opened: how many of the people you shared with opened it, as a share of them
- Views and Avg engaged time ("Time the tab was active and someone was scrolling or hovering.")
- A daily views trend
- Most read page and Least seen page, when the dashboard has more than one page
- Not opened yet, with the people who haven't opened it and a Remind button
- Top readers, with their visits and when they were last seen
- How many questions viewers asked, and how many went unanswered
- If the dashboard is embedded: "Also embedded on 2 sites: 140 loads in 7 days, counted separately." with an Embeds link
If nobody is invited by name, Audience reads Not shared with anyone yet with Invite viewers and Copy link. Visits through a public link or an embed still count, as anonymous views. If shared people haven't opened it yet, it says so. If the numbers fail to load, you see "Engagement couldn't be loaded." with Try again.
Audience may also suggest email updates: "Rather put the numbers in front of them each time the data changes?" → Email them updates. See Email updates.
The full engagement report
Click Full report → in Audience to open the full report, titled Engagement. It shows who opened the board, what they read, when, and what they did.
Choose the period and viewers
- Range: 7d, 30d or 90d (30 days by default)
- More options:
- Export CSV downloads people, pages and daily views
- Viewers: All viewers, Named only or Anonymous
- Compare to previous 30 days adds the previous period to the numbers and chart
Headline numbers and Views per day
The top of the report shows Opened, Views and Avg engaged time, then a Views per day chart. A line under it names the people who haven't opened the board yet ("Not opened yet: 4 people"), with Remind the 4 who never opened.
People
The People block lists everyone the board is shared with, in four tabs: All, Engaged, Drifting and Never opened.
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Name | The viewer. Anonymous visits through a public link are grouped as Anonymous link visitors |
| Visits | How many times they opened it |
| Pages read | How many of the board's pages they read |
| Total time | Engaged time across the period |
| Avg time | Engaged time per visit |
| Last seen | Their latest visit |
The report states its rule for Engaged: "Engaged means 5+ minutes of engaged time or 3+ pages read in the period." Drifting means they haven't been back for a while ("Hasn't been back for 21 days.").
Click a person to see their recent visits, with Remind followed by their name if they can be reminded.
Pages
The Pages block shows how many visitors reached each page, and for a page you pick, "% of Overview visitors who scrolled each tile into view". Pages that are rarely reached are flagged Rarely reached, and the page where people spend the most time is flagged Most time.
Questions readers asked
If viewer Q&A is on, Questions readers asked groups the questions viewers asked, with "Asked 4×", thumbs up and down counts, and Unanswered for questions the board couldn't answer. "Questions are grouped and never show who asked."
When you open the report from the editor of that dashboard, two buttons help you act on a question:
- Add as tile: for a question no tile answers. It closes the report and asks the editor's AI chat to add a tile that answers it.
- Add to glossary: for a question that shows a term was unclear. It opens the glossary with that term, so you can define it for readers.
For how viewers ask questions, see Explore and Q&A.
When people read, and actions
Click Show more: when people read, actions to see:
- When people read: a heatmap of views by day and hour, in your time zone
- Actions: PDF downloads, Link copies, Exports (Power BI and Tableau) and Video exports
Remind people who haven't opened it
You can resend the original share email to people who haven't opened the board. Remind buttons appear in Audience and the full report:
- Remind or Remind the 3 who never opened, next to the "Not opened yet" line
- Remind all 4 in the Never opened tab of People ("Sends the original share email again · at most once per 7 days")
- Remind followed by the person's name, on one person's visits
Mammoth asks you to confirm: "Send a reminder to 4 people?" and "It resends the original share email. Each person can be reminded at most once every 7 days." Click Send reminder.
The result reads "Reminder sent to 3 people." and lists anyone skipped, with the reason:
- reminded in the last 7 days
- no email address
- no longer shared with them
- opened it since
After a reminder, the button shows when you can remind them again: "Reminded today · again from 10 November". If it fails: "The reminder couldn't be sent. Try again."
Weekly email about this board
The Weekly email about this board toggle sits in the header of the full report, for a published board. The email goes to the board's editors and sums up how the board is being read. The setting is yours alone: turning it off stops only your copy. It's "On by default once more than 5 people view it in a week". If the change can't be saved, you see "The weekly email setting couldn't be saved. Try again."
This is different from email updates, which send the board's numbers to its viewers.
The engagement lens on the canvas
The engagement lens draws the last 30 days of viewer behaviour on top of your board in the editor, so you can see which parts people miss.
Turn it on with the Engagement toggle in the editor header, or click Show on canvas → in the full report. The toggle is hidden on drafts, and greyed out until viewers have opened the published board ("Engagement lens — appears once viewers have opened the published board.").
With the lens on, you see:
- Page reach for each page, for example "64%" ("64% of viewer visits reached this page")
- A "seen" figure on each chart, such as "seen 80%": the share of viewers who opened the page and had this chart on screen. Charts few people reach read "seen 12% · few get here", with the hint "Few viewers scroll this far — consider moving it up."
- Question pins on charts that viewers asked about ("3 questions"), a sign the chart may not be easy to read
On decks and docs, the lens shows reach per slide or per section and marks the Biggest drop-off.
For example, if a chart near the bottom of a page reads "seen 12% · few get here" and your KPIs read "seen 95%", move the chart up or turn its key number into a KPI.
Since you last opened
When you open a published board in the editor and something happened since your last visit, a strip at the top of the canvas sums it up: "Since you last opened this, 3 days ago:" followed by counts such as "24 views", "6 people", "2 questions" and "1 answer marked unhelpful".
Click See Audience to open Audience, or Dismiss (×) to hide the strip for this visit.
