Billing and plans

Each workspace has its own plan and its own billing. This page covers everything you do with a plan: comparing and changing plans, choosing storage, paying and reading invoices, and what you see when a trial ends, a payment is due, or the workspace goes over its plan's limits.

Mammoth's self-serve plans are Free, Starter, Team and Pro. Enterprise is arranged through sales. For what each plan includes, see Plan allowances.

Where billing lives

Open Workspace Settings (bottom-left of the sidebar) and choose Plan & Storage. Everyone in the workspace can open this page, but only people who can change the plan (Workspace Owners) see the buttons that change or pay for it.

The top of the page shows any banner that needs your attention (a trial ending, a payment waiting, a scheduled downgrade). Below it:

PartWhat it shows
See what changedA button at the top right after a trial ends or while the workspace is over its plan's limits. It opens the plan check described in What changes after the trial.
Change PlanA button at the top right for Owners on self-serve plans. Hidden during a trial, where Choose a plan takes its place.
Plan DetailsYour subscription, storage, user seats and plan summary. Shown on plans billed through Mammoth's self-serve checkout.
Manage storageEvery dataset with its size, so you can free space. See Manage storage.

Plan Details

RowWhat it shows
SubscriptionThe plan name (for example, Team Plan) and Monthly or Annually. During a trial it shows Trial and a pill counting down the time left. If the plan is set to end, it shows "Cancels on" and the date.
StorageA bar of used and allowed storage, the storage your plan includes, and any extra storage you chose.
User seatsThe seats your plan includes, and any additional seats on the subscription.
Plan SummaryOwners only. What the plan costs and the date it renews or cancels. On a monthly plan, a link under it switches you to annual billing.

The Billing & Invoices button appears on the Subscription row for Owners on paid self-serve plans once any trial has ended. During a trial or on the Free plan, the row shows Choose a plan (trial only) and Delete workspace instead.

Compare and change plans

  1. Go to Workspace Settings > Plan & Storage.
  2. Click Change Plan. During a trial, click Choose a plan instead.
  3. In the picker, the Now line shows your current plan. Use the Billing toggle to switch between Monthly and Annually.
  4. Under Which plan?, pick a plan. Your plan is marked Current, and the recommended plan is marked Most Popular.
  5. Click Continue.
  6. Check the confirmation. It shows Current Plan and New Plan. On plans with a storage choice, pick a size under How much data? (see Change storage).
  7. Click Apply changes.

The picker notes "You'll see the price and confirm before anything changes." Under the plans:

LinkWhat it does
Talk to SalesNext to "Need SSO or dedicated infrastructure?". Opens a chat with Mammoth for Enterprise.
See full pricingOpens the Mammoth pricing page in a new tab, with the full feature comparison.

What happens after Apply changes depends on the change:

  • No payment needed now: the plan changes and Mammoth shows "Plan successfully updated".
  • Payment needed: Mammoth opens a secure checkout page. When the payment goes through you come back to Mammoth and see the payment confirmation.
  • Card declined or extra card verification needed: the change waits for payment. See Changes waiting for payment.
  • Moving from a paid plan to Free: the change is scheduled for the end of the billing period. See Scheduled downgrade.

If your plan isn't self-serve, the plan buttons don't appear. Contact your Mammoth account team to change it.

Confirm a plan during a trial

When you choose a plan during a trial, the confirmation step is titled after the plan (for example, Confirm Team). It shows:

LineWhat it shows
NowYour trial plan and the time left in the trial.
After paymentThe plan you picked and its billing period, then "Your trial ends."
Due todayWhat you pay now.
ThenWhat you pay each billing period after that, with "Cancel anytime."

If you pick a plan below your trial plan, a warning reads, for example, "When the payment goes through, you lose the features that are only on Pro."

The note under it reads "Your remaining trial days end when the payment goes through. If you leave the payment page, nothing changes." Click Continue to payment to go to the checkout page.

If you leave checkout without paying, Plan & Storage shows a banner such as "Checkout wasn't finished. Your Pro trial is unchanged" with the time left. Click Resume checkout to go straight back to the confirmation step.

Change storage

On plans that sell storage sizes (Starter, Team and Pro), Owners see Change storage on the Storage row of Plan Details.

  1. Click Change storage.
  2. Under How much data?, pick a size. Each option shows the size, a rough row count, and whether it's included in your plan.
  3. Read the warning, then click Apply changes.
WhenWarning
On a paid plan"Changing storage takes effect immediately and you'll be charged the prorated difference right away."
During a trial"Changing storage now ends your trial and starts billing immediately."

When the change applies, Mammoth shows "Storage updated". If the card needs attention, the change waits for payment like a plan change does. The Free plan has a fixed amount of storage, with no larger sizes to choose. For the sizes on offer, see Plan allowances.

User seats

The User seats row shows how many seats your plan includes. Each self-serve plan has a fixed number of users, so there's no option to buy single seats. To add more people than your plan allows, change to a plan with more users, or talk to sales about Enterprise.

When an invite would go over the limit, Mammoth shows a message with how many seats are left, for example "You only have 1 seat left in this workspace. Please reduce the number of emails or upgrade your plan." Owners on self-serve plans get an Upgrade Plan button in that message. Owners on other plans get Contact support. Members are asked to contact a workspace owner.

Billing & Invoices

Click Billing & Invoices on the Subscription row to open your billing details. You need permission to manage payment settings (Workspace Owners have it).

RowWhat it showsButton
SubscriptionYour plan name.Delete workspace, Change Plan

Next paymentThe next amount and the date it's charged. If the plan is set to end, this row reads Subscription ends with "Expires on" and the date.Change invoice details

Edit payment method and Change invoice details open a secure billing page where you update your card or the details printed on your invoices. If the plan's payment is still pending, both buttons read Complete payment instead.

The Invoices table lists every invoice, newest first by default. Click a column's sort button to sort by it.

ColumnWhat it shows

With no invoices yet, the table shows "No data to show". If a partner bills your workspace, the page shows "Billing for this workspace is managed by your partner." instead.

Changes waiting for payment

Plan selected but not paid

If you've chosen a plan but haven't paid for it yet (for example, you left checkout), Owners are taken to Plan & Storage, which shows "Your plan is selected but not yet paid for. Complete payment to activate it." Click Complete payment to open checkout.

Held changes

If your card is declined or your bank asks for extra verification, a plan or storage change waits for payment and your plan stays as it was. Mammoth shows a Complete payment dialog, for example "Your change to Team is waiting for payment. Pay on Stripe's page; your plan switches as soon as it's paid."

ButtonWhat it does
Pay on StripeOpens the payment page in a new tab.
Cancel changeDrops the change. Mammoth shows "Change cancelled. Your plan hasn't changed."
Check againAppears after Mammoth stops checking on its own: "We stopped checking for your payment. If you have paid on Stripe's page, check again."

While the dialog is open, Mammoth checks for the payment and shows "Your plan has been updated." once it's paid. If you close the dialog, Plan & Storage keeps a warning such as "A change to Team is waiting for payment." (or "A change to your storage or billing cycle is waiting for payment.") with Cancel change and Pay on Stripe.

Scheduled downgrade and Keep my plan

Moving from a paid plan to Free doesn't happen at once. Your plan stays active until the end of the billing period, and Plan & Storage shows a banner with the date your plan stays active until, after which it moves to the Free plan.

To stay on your paid plan, click Keep my plan on that banner. Mammoth cancels the scheduled downgrade and confirms that your plan will continue.

Trial countdown

A new Mammoth account's first workspace can start on a Pro trial. While the trial runs:

  • The sidebar shows Pro Trial under the workspace name and a countdown of the time left (it reads Ends today on the last day).
  • Plan & Storage shows a banner with the trial end date and the plan the workspace moves to without a choice, for example "Your Pro trial ends Nov 18. Without a plan, the workspace moves to Free." It has a Choose a plan button.
  • Near the end of the trial, Owners also see a bar across the top of the app, for example "Pro trial ends today. Choose a plan to keep Pro, or the workspace moves to Free on Nov 18, 2026." Click Choose a plan to open the picker, or close the bar. It comes back once more on the last day.

Members who click a plan button see "Ask a workspace owner to choose a plan".

What changes after the trial

When a trial ends without a paid plan, the workspace moves to the Free plan. The next time you open the workspace, a dialog explains what changed, titled for example "Pro trial ended. Free plan is now active." You can reopen it any time with See what changed on Plan & Storage. The same dialog opens when a workspace is over its plan's limits after any downgrade.

Summary

The Summary tab has two parts:

  • Needs your attention: anything the workspace uses that is over the new plan's limit or not included in it, each with a Resolve button.
  • What changes after the trial: a table with Feature, During trial (Pro plan) and Now (Free plan) for users, storage, projects, dashboards, custom roles, connectors, exports, automations, Row-Level Security, dashboard branding, Viewer Q&A and the activity log. Hover a row's info icon for detail.
RowWhat changes on a smaller plan
Users"Extra members are read-only": users invited during the trial get a read-only experience.
Custom rolesWhether the new plan includes custom roles (they're on Pro). On a plan without them, New Role in Roles & Permissions shows the upgrade prompt.
Connectors"Premium connections suspended": cloud warehouses, cloud storage and REST API connections stop.
Exports"Other destinations suspended": exports beyond CSV and Excel download stop.
Automations"Automations using them are suspended": for example dataset refresh, data consolidation, file collection and messaging.
Row-Level Security"Every authenticated viewer sees the whole dashboard". Viewer assignments are kept for when you upgrade.
Dashboard brandingPublished dashboards show the Mammoth mark again.

Resolve items over the limit

A banner at the top reads, for example, "Your workspace is limited until this is sorted. Resolve the 2 items flagged below, or upgrade to keep everything as it is." Each flagged item gets its own section, marked To resolve or Resolved in the side list.

SectionHow you resolve it
Team membersRemove members until you're within the seat limit. You and the last owner are always kept.
StorageDelete datasets until Using is under Limit. Each dataset links to the Data Library, where you can remove single batches instead.
ProjectsDelete projects until you're within the limit. Deleting a project is permanent.
DashboardsUnpublish or Delete published dashboards. Keep 3 most recent (with your plan's number) unpublishes the rest in one click.
REST API sourcesDelete the sources.
Connectors, exports, automations, parameters and checkpoints not on your planFollow the section's button (for example Manage connections) to remove them where they live, then come back and click I've removed them — re-check.

Each count shows "2 over the limit" until it's resolved. Undo reverses a choice before you apply it.

Apply or keep the limits

ButtonWhat it does
UpgradeOpens the plan picker so you can keep everything.
Continue with limitsShown while items are unresolved. Closes the dialog and leaves the workspace limited. The dialog opens again on reload or when you try a blocked action.
Continue on FreeShown once nothing is left to resolve. Opens Here's what will happen if you chose anything to delete or unpublish. Otherwise it closes the dialog.

Here's what will happen lists what is kept (unpublished dashboards can be published again after an upgrade) and what is deleted for good. Click Delete and continue (or Continue on Free if nothing is deleted) to apply, or Back to change your choices.

On a contract plan, the dialog is titled "Your plan does not include everything this workspace uses." There's no Upgrade button: use Start resolving, or Contact your account manager to add items to your contract.

View-only mode

When a self-serve subscription is cancelled, Mammoth moves the workspace to the Free plan. The workspace is view-only until that move completes, or when the first payment for a subscription expires unpaid. You can browse your data, but buttons that change it are turned off.

When you open the workspace, Mammoth shows a page titled "Your free trial has ended" with "Choose a plan to pick up where you left off".

OptionWhat it does
Plan cards and Continue →Pick a plan and go to checkout. Picking Free takes you straight back into the workspace.
Extend your trialUnder "Not ready yet?". Opens a page to book a call with Mammoth.
Continue in view-only mode →Opens the workspace read-only for the rest of your browser session.

While the workspace is view-only, a red bar at the top reads "You're in view-only mode. Choose a plan to continue working", with Choose a plan. If the workspace is scheduled for deletion, the bar also counts down the days until your data is deleted.

Payment due and read-only workspaces

When a payment fails on a self-serve plan, Mammoth opens a Payment Update Required page: "Your payment method may have expired, been declined, or there might be a temporary issue with your account."

ButtonWhat it does
Contact supportOpens a chat with Mammoth support.
Try Existing PaymentCharges your saved card again. Success shows "Payment successful! Your subscription is now active." and takes you back into the workspace. Failure shows "Payment failed. Please update your payment method and try again."
Edit payment methodOpens a secure page to add a new card.

People without billing permission see "This action requires workspace owner permissions. Please contact them for help."

Overdue invoice on a contract plan

A workspace billed by invoice becomes read-only while an invoice is overdue.

WhoWhat they see
Owner, billed by MammothPayment overdue: "An invoice for this workspace is overdue. Until it is paid, the workspace is read-only." with Pay invoice (opens the invoice in a new tab) and I've paid — check again. If the payment hasn't arrived: "We have not received the payment yet. Please try again in a few minutes."
Owner, billed by a partnerWorkspace is read-only: the billing issue is with your partner. Contact them to restore access.
MembersWorkspace is read-only: "This workspace is read-only until its billing is settled. Please ask your workspace owner or admin."

Payment confirmation

After a successful checkout, Mammoth opens your workspace with a confirmation titled after your plan (for example, "You're on the Team Plan"). It reads "Welcome back. All your data and features are ready to go. A receipt has been sent to your email." and lists Plan, Billing and Next billing date. Click Go to my workspace to close it.

When a feature isn't on your plan

Buttons for features your plan doesn't include show a premium icon. What happens when you click one depends on your role and plan:

You areWhat you see
Owner, self-serve planThe plan picker, titled Upgrade Plan, so you can move to a plan that includes the feature.
Owner, Enterprise or contract planA dialog such as "Row-Level Security unavailable": "It looks like this feature isn't part of your current plan. Please get in touch to enable it." Contact your Mammoth account team.
Member, self-serve planA Contact Owner to Upgrade message: "Contact the Workspace owner to explore plan upgrade options, granting you access to Row-Level Security."
Member, other plans"Row-Level Security isn't part of your current plan. Please request a workspace owner to enable it."

The same prompt appears when you reach a counted limit, such as published dashboards. There's no in-app request form: a Member asks an Owner directly. For each plan's limits, see Limits and quotas.

Storage full

Mammoth warns you as storage fills up:

Storage usedWhat you see
80% or moreA bar at the top of the app, for example "You have used 85% of your storage", with Manage storage.
100%The bar turns red: "You have exceeded the storage limit on your plan." The Manage storage section on Plan & Storage reads Manage storage - Full.

You can close the bar for the rest of your browser session. While storage is full, actions that add data (such as adding a dataset or saving a new view) are blocked:

You areWhat you see
Owner, self-serve planThe Upgrade Plan picker. Choose a plan or a larger storage size.
Owner, Enterprise or contract planStorage limit was reached: "For increased storage, kindly reach out to our support team."
Member"You have exceeded the storage limit on your plan." with a Manage storage button.

To free space, open Manage storage, sort by Size, and delete what you no longer need. To get more space, change storage or change your plan.
