Import Google Analytics 4 data into Mammoth

The Google Analytics 4 (GA4) connector imports reporting data from a GA4 property into Mammoth as a dataset. You sign in with Google and pick the property to read. Open it from Data Library > New dataset > Connectors and search for Google Analytics 4. Project Admins create the connection; Project Editors can start datasets from a connection the project already has. Which connectors you can add depends on your plan.

What you can bring in from GA4

  • Report tables for the property you pick. Each is a fixed set of dimension and metric columns read from GA4.
  • Account tables, such as accounts and properties.
  • Only the columns you tick.

The dataset can refresh daily or only when you ask.

Before you connect Google Analytics 4

You need a Google account with access to the GA4 property you want to report on.

Connect Google Analytics 4 to Mammoth

  1. Go to the Data Library, click New dataset, and choose Connectors.
  2. Search for Google Analytics 4 and click its tile. The connector workspace opens with the Chat showing. See Connect a database or app for the shared steps.
  3. In the chat, click the button to sign in with Google and allow Mammoth access.
  4. Pick the GA4 property (profile) to read.

Pick GA4 tables and columns

  1. In Tables, open a table and tick the columns you want. They gather in Your table.
  2. Click Preview 100 rows to check the data.

Save GA4 data as a dataset

  1. Click Save as dataset.
  2. Enter a Dataset name and pick the folder under Save in.
  3. Under Keep it up to date, choose Daily or Manual.
  4. Click Save.

Choose a GA4 update method that keeps corrections

Choosing Daily creates a Dataset Refresh automation that you can reschedule later.

After you save, the dataset's Update method offers these options:

Update methodWhat it does
Replace all dataRebuilds the dataset from the source on every refresh
Add new rows onlyKeeps your rows and adds rows above the last value of a Key column
Keep only the newest rowsEmpties the dataset, then brings in rows since the last refresh (needs a Key column)

GA4 keeps correcting the numbers of recent days after it first reports them. If you pick a date as the Key column, each day is imported only once, so those corrections never arrive, and Mammoth warns you about this. Choose Replace all data to always have the corrected numbers.
